Overview of Character
When children’s characters are successful they can be a highly lucrative business. According to reports, The Peppa Pig brand is now a billion-pound business. With thousands of branded products, it is not hard to understand why this character is so valuable.
Peppa first made her entrance back in 2004. Whilst this is some time ago, she has not seen that much competition emerge in the “big character” space over the past decade. There are some characters that have been launched in the last 20 years that have made it big such as Shaun The Sheep, Hello Kitty and The Gruffalo but the list is relatively short, given the size of the market place. In fact, there recently seems to have been a resurgence of many the classics that have been around since the ’70s/’80s with Paddington, Danger Mouse, Worzel Gummage and Winnie The Pooh all securing new film or TV deals over the past few years. We think these things indicate that there is a gap in the market for a few new characters to make their mark.
Our character is a fun, loveable, extraordinary and totally unique and we firmly believe that the character will appeal to the 4-7 year old market, and their Mum’s and Dad’s. In terms of commercial value, our character has been developed with very strong “brand” potential. This is one of the USP’s that we believe will give us a major competitive advantage and which we genuinely think offers us the potential to enter the major league of “children’s characters”
